Tona Macken
You might think it would be difficult to find competent help for an organization such as ours, situated 16 miles from a town of 8,000 people. Not exactly, ‘cause we’ve learned through the years to just wait – and they will come. Witness Tona Macken who moved with husband Howard to our mountainside last year from San Francisco. Brighter than a halogen bulb and not at all ready to retire – even after 33 years as an elementary school teacher – Tona is our latest hire and is willing to do just about anything that needs doing.
Geography was her favorite subject as a teacher and so it’s good to have another person onboard who’s as excited and knowledgeable about the places we photograph as we are. She’s been around herself some too going back to when Howard was a sailmaker in the Bay Area and in Vancouver, and the couple lived aboard their Gulfstar 43…as you might imagine, sailing extensively in the process
She’s a general assistant for now, but stay tuned…Tona is capable of much more.
